The Experience
Daily guided boat dives depart from Cole Bay and run to sites selected based on conditions and diver experience levels. Reef dives cover walls with soft coral fans, pinnacles that attract pelagic species, and shallow gardens suited to newer divers. Night dives run on scheduled evenings and reveal the reef's nocturnal shift — octopus, lobster, and bioluminescent organisms that are invisible during the day. What to Try
The wreck dives are the signature draws — the Proselyte sits in relatively shallow water and the airplane wrecks are unique to St. Maarten. Night dives here are particularly good because Cole Bay's departure point puts you on sites quickly, keeping the boat ride short in darkness. If you are an instructor candidate, the IDC courses draw candidates from across the Caribbean.

Ask about the less-visited pinnacle sites if you are an experienced diver — they see fewer groups and the marine life density is higher.
