The Experience
You arrive through a quiet residential lane and the bistro opens up into a warmly-lit dining room with an inviting garden-style terrace out back. It's the kind of place that eases you in: candles on the tables, a Latin-tinged playlist most nights, and staff who remember faces. Come earlier and it feels like a proper European bistro — white linens, a wine list, unhurried service. Stay past nine on a Friday or Saturday and the room tilts into supper-club mode as the live band sets up. Latino night on Fridays draws a dancing crowd, Saturday is jazz, and Sunday's open jam is a local favourite. The kitchen leans classic — pasta, grilled meats, tapas, seafood — but everything is plated with care, and portions are generous enough that lingering over a bottle of Malbec is the assumed plan.
What to Try
Start with a tapas board to share — the tapas menu is one of the strongest in the city and pairs beautifully with a cocktail. The tournedos and steaks are what regulars come back for, and the paella and grilled fish are reliable mains. If pasta is your thing, the tagliatelle and ravioli are handmade-quality. Save room for a nightcap of Suriname's own Borgoe rum with dessert.

Book ahead for Friday Latino or Saturday jazz nights — the small dining room fills up fast with regulars, and walk-ins after 8pm often wait. If you want the full bistro experience without the crowd, aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday: same kitchen, quieter room, and you'll actually hear the music. Ask for a table on the garden side.
