Mezza Luna

Seaside Italian with homemade pasta at Nettle Bay Beach Club.

Why Go

Baie Nettle (Nettle Bay) on the French side is a resort corridor stretching along one of the island's longest and most underrated beaches. Mezza Luna at the Nettle Bay Beach Club brings traditional Italian cooking to this seaside setting — homemade fresh pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and seafood dishes prepared with the passion of a family kitchen, all served with the sound of waves providing the background music.

The Experience

The Nettle Bay Beach Club setting gives Mezza Luna something most Italian restaurants on the island lack: direct seaside ambiance. The combination of homemade pasta — properly fresh, not dried-and-rehydrated — with the beachfront location creates a dining experience that bridges Italian tradition with Caribbean setting. The menu covers the Italian spectrum: appetizers, wood-fired pizzas, house-made pasta dishes, seafood that benefits from the French side's fishing traditions, and desserts that close the meal properly. Lunch and dinner service (12–3 PM and 6–9:30 PM, Monday through Saturday) gives two daily windows, each with its own character: lunch is bright and beachy, dinner is romantic and candlelit. The $$ pricing makes Mezza Luna accessible for regular visits rather than just special occasions. Baie Nettle itself is a calmer alternative to the busier resort strips of Simpson Bay and Maho, attracting visitors who prefer quiet beach days and relaxed evening dining.

What to Try

The homemade fresh pasta is the reason to choose Mezza Luna over other Italian options — the texture and flavor of truly fresh pasta cannot be replicated. Wood-fired pizza is the other pillar. For dinner, seafood preparations that combine Italian technique with French-side ingredients are often the strongest choices.

Insider Tip

Baie Nettle is accessed from the main road between Marigot and Sandy Ground. The Beach Club has its own parking, which is easier than the on-street options in Marigot. The sunset dinner window (arriving around 6 PM) catches the best light over the water. Saturday is the last dinner service of the week — make it count.
